Stadtschulwoche in Quito - 12.5 & 13.5

Buenas noches from Cuenca, Ecuador by far the most beautiful city!

A week ago we completed the project Sacha Yachana Wasi, with a laughing and a crying eye. In the last two weeks, the children, the jungle, the weather and the mood of the teacher's house once again shown by the very best and the farewell can be difficult. Although it is now quite a while ago, I would like to write to you a bit of the city school week in Quito.

The idea of a special week for the four remaining high school students I had, because I seemed to her that she too should have something special when even the other four while in Switzerland the "allowed". I wanted to do something that was almost as exciting and strange, like the trip to Switzerland Yesseña and Micaela. Maestra Gloria and Anja accompanied us. Financed

we have a week of the donation money for teachers in secondary and high school turf, who for many hours gejasst committed. Many thanks to André & Kathrin Mueller, Dani & Annemarie Rösti, Dänu Haymoz, Elisabeth and Werner Berger, Judith and Jürg Flückiger, Bernhard Probst, Patrick von Büren and all Gelegenheitsjasser!

Monday 12 to come in May 2008
arrival

Instead of the school canoe in the Amazoonico, drove Cristian, Adrian (both in the finest clothes, but clearly nervous), Maria (on-the forgotten identity card, we will once again down the river) had , Anja and I went to Puerto Barantilla where Abdón and his sister Gloria were waiting for us.
Unfortunately, the bus to Tena further due to a construction site above do not and we were forced to spend our trip to Quito with a half hour wait.

In Tena delivery of the first things "gänggelet" and I wondered once again how this money is suddenly accessible.

The trip to Quito was an adventure, which was mainly the driving style of the irregular Chofer due. The 5 Kichwas it was nauseated by this sudden braking and spirited acceleration. Without that I noticed is Adrian had already quietly passed into the gap between the seat and Buswand. In Cristian I was laying a hand bag. Finally slept all, what really under these circumstances, the best was.

At Terminal Terrestre de Quito, we all boarded a taxi together (which was quite a Gstungg) and drove to the Hostal Cometa, where I am now already feel quite at home all week and only was available to us.

The dinner I went with Mary and Gloria in the mall "El jardín, buy a huge shopping center. Only when I heard the nervous giggles, I realized that the two had never ridden on an escalator and that is probably amusing, but it took a bit scary.

Abdón surfed now in a hostel on the web. And although he was not sure often with a PC had worked, he found himself remarkably well. Great fun it made the browsing through my blog, mainly because of the photos and films.

After the food was pretty quick night's sleep. And the alarm never went off. I had the children in the run my story with the security system in Hostal Cometa told and no one wanted the police in the house. Although, it might have irritated Cristian ... Just look what happened ...

visit the old town and the Basilica, ride in the Parque Carolina

Because it's much colder in Quito than in the East, have Jana and I rented directly to the children of our cold weather gear: Abdón ran around in my fleece, Adrian Janas, Gloria wore my t-shirt and Cristian my windbreaker.

If the drive in Trolebus was something special, not show it could be the students. A small uncertainty was where to why money has lowered them for the ticket and how goes through the revolving bars, which prevent that damage to many people together in the bus station (you know what I mean? These things have a name ?).

gave During the subsequent walk through the old town is much to see, not only for the Indians ungewöhnten eyes, but also to Anja and me. For example, a shoelace salesman. We were allowed into the lobby of the government building of Rafael Correa, the acting president. The neat, black guard, who stood in front of the decorative entrance gate, we were allowed to take pictures.

Even the rise in the tower of the Basilica, a large cathedral was not only for the students an exciting affair. The extremely steep ladder into the tower seemed anything but safe and the houses of Quito from this lofty height seemed disturbingly small. Gloria and Maria were better in the more secure mezzanine and I ventured only hinau f because Anja wanted so much.

Lunch we took in a small local restaurant, of which there are throughout the city at every turn one. The kids ordered chicken and rice, but could hardly enjoy, such as the photo of Cristian shows because the room was a television.

conclusion of this first day trip to the big city was a paddleboat ride in the Parque Carolina.

wanted for dinner, the children - believe it or not - rice and chicken. Chicken was too expensive, but rice and onion and tomato salad was cooked in the hostel of Mary and Gloria. As then Maya still brought a TV, they heard from the tired children do not have much. (PS: In Switzerland, I always make at camps taken to ensure that the children watch TV than a week not . Here in Ecuador I did it treat them by heart ...)

Standard Width Of A Residential Hallway?

Kreative Spezialwoche

28th April 2008 to 2nd May 2008

There was a week anyway interrupted with a Friday (May 1), we have decided to hold a special week. The kindergarten and the lower grades have made paper towels stained made and stamp. The intermediate and advanced, we have divided into a girl and a young group. The boys built with Heiko more on the mini-Kichwa house, the girls crocheting with me a handbag.

I made the three days of great fun. Although the girls had previously never crocheted, they have grasped the technology quickly and went with great zeal, ran to the cause. They worked sometimes so focused and quiet as a mouse that I felt the urge to start a conversation. When they talked have, then usually on Kichwa, which had me happy.
Anja had a fever this week and had to keep the bed. That was no problem but apart from that Häkelstunden were simply held in the teacher's house, enjoyed what the girls of course.

On Wednesday afternoon went We once again to Tena to once again look at the past Bilingüe and the forms to all in order. However, I took Anya's violent fever slowly concerns and we decided to go instead to control malaria. (PS: 40.5 degree fever in the middle of the night in the jungle, if you know that the next really good hospital three hours away, and you'd have to first have to organize a canoe, which is still a bit of a sinking feeling in my stomach). You get to this point
a prick in the finger, not a patch on it and then after half an hour of waiting time
negative or positive decision. The man in front of us had a positive blood sample and got a bunch of drugs with (there are just yet malaria cases in Tena!) When Anja they are lucky to have found nothing.
the evening I got a strong ear pain. Like the whole year, I also responded to Anja's disease with a Wehwechen. Thursday was the freedom I enjoy any more, so distracted me from the throbbing pain in the ear. On Friday morning, after a night spent in a sitting position, I decided to drive me to Puyo. It was a pity I could not be in school that day. Steffi has organized a sports day for all students, with duathlon and Border Ball tournament. Actually, I would have been very happy since it ... The occasion was a great success.
In Puyo - after three hours of bus, half an hour bureaucracy and another hour of waiting time - I knew for sure what had Anja and me so afflicted. Anja had a decaying flu, as we had already suspected this. And I have a infección del oído medio - a middle ear infection. And I can say that I have temporarily taken a ruptured eardrum in buying, just so the pain would finally stop. That said, I'm just not good at being sick.

Advantages Of Bathing Soap

Allerlei

Mis amigos, familia querida
You see, I'm not as a jour with my entries and I think they have subsided somewhat in style. My excuse is short and compelling: there is at the moment to do too much!
in a few words here are some highlights of recent weeks:

visit from Vätu
Patrick was in his spring vacation to visit us. Unbelievable that this is now again two weeks ago! Anja has enjoyed the time, although then again like to spend the afternoon with her very best (and containing far and wide only) girlfriend Kayla. Patrick helped us out at school and did a lot with our daughter.

We are with him in a traditional cost-Runa Huasi Kichwagericht gone. As you see, could even Patrick, who otherwise can not do anything with fish on plates, on tilapia have.

character artist Anja
The environment in which we currently live, is also affecting the drawing style of Anja: instead of cars and houses she draws containing Tortugas (Turtle).

Kichwahausbau
Jan had asked Heiko, whether they build a tree house in the works are expected, which was denied. They agreed, however, have a play house, the guys were immediately attacked and prakisch made in the past few weeks alone on the legs or piles. They even continued to work on the afternoon because . The anchor they have so done, how it had taught them Heiko six months ago once. The rest was hammered and sawed, shown us how to get it from their fathers. And the house is! Without a spirit level and right angles. The crowning glory is the canopy (techo de paja), which the children have woven from palm fronds and the 100% is water repellent. So we got another invaluable insight into the daily lives of more Kichwas: We were allowed to experience building a house in miniature. Right now the bigger guys tinkering with the interior and complaining, laughing, that the most important thing at the house anyway still missing: a woman ;-).

Kinderfiesta
have left since last weekend, four of the big kids in the jungle to Switzerland, we had the night before organizing a Kinderfiesta. Last year the teachers have raved about this party and we found the whole thing to a good cause. At four clock in the afternoon we started with the joint preparations: Hang with candy and Gumpibällen filled balloons, so they could be down shot with the blowpipe, set up the music system (again, the object of the boys), prepare the food (again, the object of the girls).
After dinner, although the taste is not necessarily had yet filled the stomachs, the first started dancing. And these kids can dance! To traditional Kichwamusik called the boys the girls on perfect form and danced as the biggest names without looking into the eyes, but very body-conscious and confident. It was a feast for the eyes to watch.
The blowpipe shooting was especially a hit with the youngsters, although they still had enough breath and not quite inflated balloons rarely brought to burst.
When it came to 9 clock, holding Yesseña a moving closing speech. Although we have reason to now still not understood, they will next year no longer in Sacha Yachana Huasi to school but go to boarding school in Colegio like Tena. So this was her last day with their comrades. She thanked everyone for the friendship and the good moments in this school as an adult that would not have done it better, while the tears ran down her cheeks.
left after the speech the children to school towards the river, to wait for Victor (canoeing). My class used the remaining five minutes to dance together with Yesseña. They embraced and danced round and spontaneously formed a women's and men's group and the children danced an old Kichwatanz where to go to the families and give each other something symbolic. I think, give the men Protection and fighting spirit, and the women food and fertility (or so it seems to me, anyway).
I sat leaning against a wall and watched the scene. Now it was up to me to wipe the tears. It will be very hard to leave this unique class ... Of course, Victor had
half an hour late, so that SA cha missed the bus and spent the night in the teacher's house, which was a culmination for Anja. Imagine the situation in Switzerland before: a first grader after a party stayed away without the parents will be notified and the child is sleeping on a strange place with no problems.

Here are photos and videos, if I think its time, now we need the bus. Hasta luego ...
